A Sushi Chef, also called an Itamae, holds a specialized and prestigious position within the culinary industry. Their primary role is to prepare traditional Japanese sushi dishes, but their responsibilities don't stop there. They are also responsible for selecting and purchasing fresh fish and seafood, creating menus, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring cleanliness and food safety regulations are met. To convey the aesthetics of sushi making, Itamaes must also have artistic skills to present the dishes in a visually appealing manner.
