Before becoming a Line Cook, a person might start their culinary career as a Kitchen Helper, Dishwasher, or Prep Cook. Important skills for a Line Cook include cooking skills, knowledge of food safety, teamwork, and the ability to stand for long periods. A certification in food handling or a degree from a culinary school is often required.
