Were looking for an experienced, motivated Sous Chef to join the culinary leadership team at Acre Kitchen & Bar in Oaklands Rockridge neighborhood. Our restaurant is rooted in seasonal, ingredient-driven cooking with a focus on Californias bounty, warm hospitality, and a creative, ever-evolving menu.

About the Role
As Sous Chef, youll work closely with our Chef de Cuisine to lead the kitchen team, maintain our high standards of execution, and contribute to menu development. Youll help oversee daily operations, manage prep and service flow, ensure quality control, and train and inspire staff. This is a hands-on role for a working chef who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
Assist Chef de Cuisine in all aspects of kitchen management
Supervise and support line cooks, prep team, and dish staff
Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all dishes
Participate in menu planning and seasonal specials
Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost control
Enforce health, safety, and cleanliness standards
Lead by example during service, ensuring efficiency and positivity

Qualifications
3+ years in a leadership role in a professional kitchen
Strong understanding of seasonal, scratch cooking
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Proven ability to manage and motivate a team
Experience with ordering, inventory, and cost management
Passion for food, hospitality, and ongoing learning

Schedule & Compensation
Full-time, evenings and weekends required
Competitive salary based on experience
