Job Description
ABOUT SILVER OAK: Silver Oak is more than a winery—it’s a testament to resilience, bold vision, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. As one of Napa Valley’s most iconic Cabernet Sauvignon producers, we have set the standard for approachable luxury, crafting wines that are as refined as they are unforgettable. Silver Oak continues to be a symbol of achievement and prestige, embraced by those who appreciate true craftsmanship.
For over five decades, we’ve believed that “our best bottle is yet to come.” This unwavering commitment to quality has driven us to seek out the finest vineyard sites in Napa and Alexander Valley, build LEED Platinum Certified wineries, and invest in our own cooperage in Missouri—ensuring every barrel is 100% American oak and precisely toasted to complement our signature winemaking style.
At Silver Oak, we don’t just make wine; we create experiences that elevate life’s defining moments.
Join Our Culinary Legacy — Executive Chef Opportunity at Silver Oak
Are you a visionary chef who thrives on creativity, leadership, and exceptional hospitality? Do you dream of working in one of the most celebrated wine country destinations, where your culinary artistry is complemented by world-class wines and breathtaking views?
The Family of Silver Oak is seeking an Executive Chef to lead our dynamic culinary program across multiple winery properties. This is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to shape the food and wine experience for our guests creating WOW with every experience. From private events to immersive wine pairings, you’ll be at the heart of something truly special.
Who You Are
You're a passionate, hands-on chef with deep fine dining experience and a genuine respect for wine as the centerpiece of the guest experience. You understand that great food should elevate — not compete with — great wine. With a love for seasonal ingredients and a flair for thoughtful, restrained creativity, you craft dishes that enhance and harmonize with each pour, allowing our wines to shine. You lead with humility, curiosity, inspire your team with purpose, and bring a collaborative spirit to the kitchen every day.
What You'll Do
As Executive Chef, you will have full ownership of our culinary vision and daily execution, including:
Culinary Leadership
- Directly manage and inspire a talented team of chefs, cooks, and support staff.
- Set clear expectations, coach for excellence, and foster a collaborative, high-performance team.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, actively supporting the professional growth and development of your team through hands-on training, thoughtful guidance, and opportunities for advancement.
- Oversee scheduling and labor management to ensure efficient, top-tier service.
- Host regular culinary team meetings to align goals, celebrate successes, and maintain open, transparent communication.
Operational Excellence
- Lead all culinary operations across retail rooms, multiple kitchens, and event spaces.
- Design menus that thoughtfully complement and enhance the unique character of our wines, using Northern California cuisine as a supporting canvas.
- Maintain impeccable standards for food quality, safety, cleanliness, and cost control.
- Drive sustainability by minimizing waste and maintaining lean, efficient inventory.
- Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Hospitality & Brand Ambassadorship
- Serve as a knowledgeable and engaging ambassador of our culinary experiences — interacting with guests, leading tastings, and sharing the stories behind thoughtfully crafted pairings that highlight our wines and reflect our brand’s commitment to excellence.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of professional culinary experience, including 3+ years in kitchen leadership within fine dining.
- Deep expertise in food and wine pairing.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team-building skills.
- ServSafe or equivalent food manager certification.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Valid CA driver’s license and the ability to travel between winery properties.
The Environment
- Be prepared for active, hands-on days — including extended periods of standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and managing multiple moving parts with focus and energy.
- Fast-paced, high-touch hospitality atmosphere across multiple properties.
- Work where the kitchen is the heart of the guest experience, and excellence is always on the menu.
Why This Role Is Special
At the Family of Silver Oak, we believe in excellence, community, and hospitality. You’ll work alongside a team that’s as passionate about food and wine as you are — in a setting that inspires creativity and connection.
This is your chance to take the lead in a chef-driven, guest-focused, wine-centered kitchen — and to be part of something truly iconic.
