Schedule: This is an in-person position, Tuesday and Wednesday 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Wage Range: $20.70 - $22.90 hourly, non-exempt

Position Overview:

The Cook is responsible for following Indian Health Services, Multnomah County, and State of Oregon standards/guidelines for food service operations in a Residential Treatment Facility. The primary responsibility of this position is food preparation for the clientele of the residential treatment facility.

What you will do:

  • Prepare ingredients by slicing, cutting, chopping, stirring, and mixing according to recipes.
  • Cook meals by reviewing recipes, combining ingredients, adding seasonings, and verifying taste.
  • Prepare hot meals by grilling, sauteing, roasting, frying, or broiling, and assemble cold ingredients.
  • Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintain temperature logs, and ensure proper dating, labeling, and rotation of food.
  • Manage daily food supply inventory, ordering materials as needed, and assist with receiving deliveries
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, food storage, and work areas; complete dishwashing and pot washing as needed.
  • Serve and/or supervise service of meals to clients in cafeteria.

Qualifications

We would like to hear from people that have:

  • Either High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification required.
  • One year experience cooking for residential treatment facility, school or hospital (preferred).
  • Knowledge of meal preparation and menu planning.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 80lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must have a current Food Handler's Card.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
  • Collaborate with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and be able to always treat everyone with respect and dignity.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.
