Salt & Straw is looking for Production Bakers to support our Central Kitchen of Oregon (CKOR) production facility located in Portland’s Central Eastside.
The Production Baker II is an intermediate-level role on the Bake team, building on the skills and responsibilities of a Production Baker I while helping produce inclusions, variegates, and MOMs used throughout our finished ice cream products. This role is responsible for executing recipes accurately, organizing daily projects, supporting production flow, and ensuring products meet Salt & Straw’s quality and food safety standards. Production Baker II team members are expected to take ownership of their assigned projects from start to finish while supporting efficient daily production.
What Salt & Straw Production Bakers Do
Follow recipe specifications provided by the R&D team and execute batches according to the daily production schedule
Take ownership of assigned daily projects including ingredient organization, workflow execution, and project completion
Accurately measure, portion, and weigh ingredients
Operate baking equipment and follow recipe instructions to ensure proper timing, baking, and product quality
Adhere to GMPs, food safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling procedures
Identify and troubleshoot basic production issues while escalating concerns appropriately
Complete ingredient tracking sheets, work orders, and required production documentation accurately
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while assisting with End-of-Day production tasks
Demonstrate basic techniques and provide guidance to junior team members as needed
Accurately enter production completion data and quantities into NetSuite
QualificationsThis Role Might Be Right If You
Have at least 1 year of experience working in commercial food preparation
Have a minimum of 6 months baking experience
Have strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise recipes and instructions
Have strong counting and math skills for accurate measuring, scaling, and portioning
Are able to work efficiently and stay organized within a fast-paced production environment
Communicate clearly and work collaboratively across Bake, Spin, and Production teams
Can uphold high standards of food safety, sanitation, product quality, and efficiency
Are comfortable operating a variety of commercial kitchen and baking equipment
Can follow detailed recipe specifications and production procedures
Are reliable, consistent, and comfortable working around food allergens and within refrigerated/freezer environments
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
