As a Line Cook at our Compass Hotel, you are part of the team that creates memorable dining experiences for our guests-one plate at a time. You bring flavor, care, and efficiency to every shift, ensuring each guest leaves happy and eager to return. Your work supports not only the culinary team, but also the overall guest experience across our Ko-Kwel properties.
What you bring to the table
- Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
- Prepare, cook, and present food to Ko-Kwel standards and guest expectations.
- Deliver friendly, courteous service-always with a smile and a positive attitude.
- Coordinate orders for timely, efficient service.
- Follow all safe food handling and sanitation procedures to keep our guests and team members safe.
- Use proper tools, recipes, and techniques to ensure consistency and quality.
- Keep your station organized, stocked, and sparkling clean throughout the shift.
- Complete all opening, running, and closing duties for your station.
- Assist fellow team members across Line, Prep, and Dish stations when needed.
- Maintain professional conduct and respectful communication at all times.
- Notify a manager of guest concerns or inventory shortages.
- Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned).

- This position doesn't have supervisory responsibilities, but you'll collaborate with and take direction from multiple team members.
- Not permitted into wine or liquor stores.
- This is not a tipped position.

This role requires standing for long periods, working with hot equipment, and lifting items up to 50 lbs. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and communication are key. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must-haves, nice-to-haves, and maybe some bonus points
- Six months to one year of experience as a Prep or Line Cook in a commercial kitchen-or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge of cooking techniques relevant to the role.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound judgment and a team-oriented mindset.
- Current food safety certification and (if applicable) alcohol awareness certification.
- Friendly and approachable attitude that helps guests (and the team) feel welcome and cared for every day.
- Comfortable communicating clearly and positively with both guests and teammates.
