Requirements:
* Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school
OR 1+ years of related experience and/or training
OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Verbal and written skills to: Present information and respond to questions; respond to inquiries; read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, government regulations, etc.); write routine reports and correspondence; and to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
* Math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio and percent).
* General computer skills to use email, internet, spreadsheet, database, and word-processing software (Google is strongly preferred).
* Current food handler's card and valid Oregon Driver License (and able to obtain a valid CRP/First Aid card).
Must pass a background check and potential drug screen.
Job Duties:
* Follow and maintain knowledge of all applicable policies and procedures.
* Prepare healthy, nutritious, and seasonal school meals; plan, cut, cook and prepare food; establish and post monthly menu.
* Work with local farmers to help establish a farm-to-school relationship.
* Comply with relevant state and local food safety and licensing regulations; assist in setting up kitchen inspection once a year.
* Measure accurate food temperatures.
* Know and follow all safety, sanitary and storage requirements, rules and regulations.
* Check freezers, refrigerators, and dishwasher to ensure proper operating temperature is maintained and sanitation standards are being upheld (weekly duty).
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
* Set up serving lines and coordinate serving of food.
* Accurately set up and store food-serving equipment.
* Organize and operate a number of different food service stations.
* Shut off, break down, and sanitize designated areas and items.
* Procure and verify food supply and rotate into existing stock; compute and maintain accurate inventory records.
* Maintain a high standard of personal cleanliness and good grooming as per sanitation code and school/district policy; dress professionally.
* Maintain quality and portion control of food served.
* Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards immediately.
* Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
* Interact thoughtfully and kindly with students, staff, and others.
* Resolve conflict in a professional manner.
* Communicate clearly and regularly with Nutrition Chair and other staff members.
* Professionally represent the school in interactions with families, community members, staff, and students.
* Attend work daily as assigned.
* Create/adhere to daily schedule.
* Help provide a substitute if sick or needing medical leave.
* Attend in-service trainings and meetings.
* Fulfill special needs requests (allergens, dietary restrictions, field trips, etc.).
* Other duties as required.
Hours: 24-32 per week.
Pay: $20.52 per hour. Benefits available if working 0.75 FTE.

Staff working 600 hours or more per year qualify for retirement through Oregon PERS (KCA picks up 6% employee contribution).
