Job Details Founded in 2014, Saraghina Bakery is a small, independent bakery delivering a wonderful range of handcrafted breads and pastries. We work to bring back ancient traditions in bread. By using ancient and whole grains and through slow, careful fermentations we make beautiful sourdough with a sweet crumb, deep flavor and a perfect crust. All of our flours are certified organic and we source the bulk of our ingredients from local farms in and around New York.We are currently seeking a morning bread baker. No overnight baking required. All candidates must share our enthusiasm for bread and baking and have a desire to learn more. A successful candidate will also work well as part of a team and approach tasks with diligence and an attention to detail in order to meet our high standards. Candidates require a basic understanding of fermentation and must be comfortable working in a bakery environment.
A successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Mixing bulk doughs
- Shaping and baking bread, buns, rolls
- Baking with a deck oven is not required, but would be considered a plus
- Lending assistance to other bakery team members
- Willing and ready to learn new stations, has a "yes chef" mentality
- Completing shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with bakery standards
- Maintaining sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies within working area
- Following principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed
- At least 18 years old
- Able to lift and carry 50+lb
- Able to work independently
- Able to work on your feet for long periods of time
- Flexible with working hours, with weekend availability
- Legal to work in the U.S.
