Job Details Hellbender is a Mexican-American restaurant in the heart of Ridgewood Queens, NY.Our focus is on creative cooking inspired by traditional Mexican dishes with local and thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Freshness, quality, and deliciousness are our top priority. You'll find old world techniques mixed with modern ones to create our idea of the best versions of classic and new dishes.
We believe in education as a large part of cooking and investing in our team is part of that education. In order to support the idea of line cooks preparing the food that they fire during service, we run a 4 day work week.
Here are some notable responsibilities within the role:
- Assisting and managing the prep kitchen
- Tasting our production and making sure everything is being made according to our recipes
- Overseeing DOH compliance and all food safety standards are met
- Maximizing efficiency in cooking projects
- Helping move production forward including taking responsibility for cooking projects
- Service Kitchen
- Working a station as necessary
- Help train new cooks and uphold high standards
- Food is served Hot (or COLD), well seasoned, and on time
- Kitchen is organized, and clean
- Closed down properly at the end of the night
- Admin
- Placing food orders
- Overseeing prep lists
- Holding team accountable for their performance
- Communicating with the rest of the Hellbender management team
- Assisting in HR duties including (but not limited to)
- Corrective action
- Time & attendance oversight
Compensation: Salary ($65,000.00 - $68,000.00)
