Yi-Cha, a new Korean gastropub opening its doors in the heart of the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Line Cook to join our kitchen team. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly during operational hours. From ensuring prepped ingredients are ready to go and fresh, maintaining a clean workspace, and assisting the culinary team with various tasks. Key Responsibilities:
Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
Prepare meals by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items.
Uses established ticket collection procedures during service.
Responsible for daily station prep list/pars and other needs/records from the area worked during service periods.
Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy.
Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
Attends in-service and safety meetings.
Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Serve Safe or Food Handlers Certificate required for this role.
Participate in daily prep lists and tasks as assigned by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
2-4 years of previous experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in a restaurant kitchen.
Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety, and sanitation standards.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Willingness to learn and take direction from the culinary team.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well with others.
Experience working in Asian restaurants or with Korean cuisine is highly preferred and will be considered a strong asset.
Culinary school education is a plus, but not required
