Job Description
The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring for Full-Time Cook 2's in the campus and auxiliary dining halls in our Campus Dining department. The UOES division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.
Cook 2
This position is ideal for individuals with prior kitchen experience who are ready to take on more responsibility, refine their cooking techniques, and work with greater independence. As a Cook 2, you'll be responsible for more complex food preparation and cooking processes, while ensuring the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of dishes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of cold food items, including cutting, chopping, and assembling ingredients.
- Perform a wide range of cooking tasks such as grilling, stir-frying, carving meats, deep-frying, and display cooking. You must be able to multitask effectively to meet production needs.
- Safely and effectively operate culinary knives, mixers, and other commercial kitchen equipment.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, and properly clean and maintain all kitchen equipment.
- Stock kitchen areas and monitor product usage to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Adhere to all standards set by Campus Dining and University Operations, Events, and Safety, assisting the team to ensure these standards are consistently met

Qualifications
- Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours at a time).
- Ability to move, lift and handle equipment, supplies and other objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to position self to move items weighing up to 25 pounds from floor to shelves and cabinets above and below counter height
- Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products
Additional Information
Pay Rate: $18.50/hr
