MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of LONGBRANCH HEALTHCARE is to offer the highest quality and professional, Inpatient Detoxification, Residential Treatment, Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and Outpatient services.

SUMMARY
The Line Cook at LONGBRANCH HEALTHCARE is responsible for preparing nutritious and medically appropriate meals and snacks for patients under the direct supervision of the Executive Chef. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Executive Chef will perform direct food services in consideration of the patients’ overall care plan.
AGE/PATIENT POPULATION(S) SERVED
Age of Patient Population Served: Adult (18 & older)
Population Served: Persons meeting DSM 5 criteria for substance use disorders with or without co-occurring psychiatric illness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plans, prepares and executes nutritious meals for the patients.
2. Upon completion of 90 days of employment, will attend and successfully complete ServSafe certification training.
3. Keeps abreast of current literature and developments in the field, and attends required training.
4. Ensures to use the utmost of care in protecting the confidentiality of client records in accordance with State and Federal laws (42CFR).
5. Collaborates with medical, nursing, and counseling staff regarding clients.
6. Provides professional and ethical nutritional services to chemically dependent patients in treatment through group activities and education.
7. Documents casework in a timely manner in compliance with agency policies and procedures, including writing group notes, progress and discharge reports, and other timely status reports as requested by the supervisor and according to Louisiana & Joint Commission standards.
8. Presents stages of change in relations to behavior modification programming, improvements, additions to protocols and behavioral health services to the team.
9. Motivates participants to set and reach health and wellness goals through integrating the nutritional program.
10. Delivers the nutritional program through but not limited to direct services, screening /assessments, health awareness and educational groups, behavior change goal development appropriate for individuals recovering from substance dependency.
11. Understands and adheres to LONGBRANCH HEALTHCARE’s compliance standards as they appear in LONGBRANCH HEALTHCARE’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
12. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and LONGBRANCH HEALTHCARE regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
13. Performs other duties and tasks as required
AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (ADULT, 18yrs+)
1. Demonstrates ability to systemically collect, record and analyze data and other relevant interactive social systems, including mental status, special precautions (suicidality, homicidality, elopement); physical problems/medical acuity (withdrawal and nutritional needs); and ethnic concerns (social, religious, or cultural needs).
2. Uses assessment data to identify problem list and other interactive social systems.
3. Initiates/develops a treatment plan with specific goals and interventions unique to the needs of the patient.
4. Intervenes as guided by the treatment plan to implement appropriate interventions that promote, maintain, or restore physical and mental health, prevent illness effect rehabilitation, and restore developmental progression in adulthood.
5. Provides substance abuse education and counseling teaching for adult/family through individual and group interactions.
6. Recommends special precautions for adults, as needed.
7. Evaluates the response of the adult/family to interventions in order to revise the plan, including discharge criteria.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education, Training, and Experience Required:
1. Formal culinary training preferred.
2. Previous experience as a cook in an Inpatient Unit facility preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, quality improvement and change management techniques.
2. Knowledge of outcome measurement and evaluation of the program design, components and attainment of goals.
3. Understanding of Addiction: Basic knowledge about substance use disorders
4. Treatment knowledge: Working familiarity with behavior change and recovery models
5. Application to practice: Methods for applying intervention and recovery knowledge to practice
6. Professional readiness: Issues related to self-awareness, diversity, ethics, ad continuing education
7. Knowledge of PC software programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
8. Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic
9. Accurately and timely enters clinical documentation using electronic medical records (EMR) software
10. Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations such as when verbally or physically confronted in an aggressive manner
11. Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands
12. Reading and writing level that can clearly express or understand complex concepts, assessments, directions and processes or sequences of events
13. Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility
14. Basic knowledge of (American Society of Addiction Medicine) ASAM criteria

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand or sit for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Extensive use of hands, fingers, wrist is needed to utilize knives and other utensils. Ability to see near and far distances, ability to hear and speak is required.
The job requires frequent contact with water (hand washing and cleaning) and working with body fluid and hazardous chemicals. When under these working conditions, OSHA standards and universal precautions must be followed at all times.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal to high volumes of stress.
