The Cooks primary objective is the preparation of food items to ensure high standard of quality and quantity to meet the needs of the residents. You would be handling food in accordance with sanitary standards and recognized food preparation standards.

Full Time: Days Vary/Times Vary/Some Evenings
Pay $18.65-$25.00 per hour, depending on experience

Cook Job Duties:

  • Prepares food, including but not limited to: washing, trimming, cutting, portioning, measuring, mixing, and panning;
  • Cooks food including: baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, boiling, and pressure cooking;
  • Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen;
  • Complies with all food preparation standards and health and safety requirements;
  • Maintains sanitary standards for the handling, transportation, and storage of food;
  • Operates and cleans all food preparation equipment, including but not limited to: grills, broilers, ovens, steamer tables, mixers, microwave ovens, toasters, etc.;
  • Maintains, sweeps and mops floors in the food preparation and storage areas to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment;
  • Attends in-service training workshops and meetings as required;
  • Is able to prepare menu items from scratch and to order;
  • Able to use a POS system efficiently;
  • Knowledge of and ability to describe a menu in details with 20 or more entrees;
  • Able to understand and explain our dining "point" system to residents and guests;
  • Record accurate food and beverage order and input into the POS system;
  • Carries service tray in correct placement of orders to facilitate service of food or beverage;
  • Handle food in accordance with sanitary and recognized food serving standards; and
  • Performs other related essential duties as required.

To be successful in the role, you would have:

  • Food Handlers certification (required).
  • Prior culinary, food service, or restaurant experience (required).
  • Availability that might include evenings, weekends, and holidays (required).
  • Prior experience working with seniors (preferred).
  • ServSafe certification (preferred)
