Job Details About LELELELE is a bold new culinary destination celebrating the vibrant, soulful flavors of Afro-Caribbean cuisine. Opening mid-May in the heart of New York City, our restaurant will fuse tradition with innovationserving elevated dishes inspired by the African diaspora, Caribbean islands, and the spice-laden street markets that define them. At LELE, we aim to honor heritage, tell stories through food, and create a space where culture and community meet on every plate.
Position SummaryWe are seeking dedicated, detail-driven Line Chefs to join our opening team and help bring the heart of LELEs kitchen to life. As a key part of our back-of-house brigade, youll execute dishes with precision and passion, maintain high standards of cleanliness and consistency, and contribute to a culture of respect, learning, and pride in Afro-Caribbean cuisine.
Whether youre well-versed in traditional techniques or excited to dive in and discover a new culinary world, were looking for team players who bring energy, curiosity, and care to every shift.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare and execute dishes according to LELEs recipes and standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient station at all times
Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet restaurant expectations
Assist with prep, stock rotation, and inventory as needed
Follow all health and safety protocols in compliance with NYC regulations
Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and leadership
Be open to feedback, learning, and growth in a dynamic kitchen environment
Minimum 12 years of kitchen experience (high-volume or upscale preferred)
Interest in or exposure to Afro-Caribbean cuisine is a pluscuriosity is key
Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic cooking techniques
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Team-oriented with a positive attitude and good communication skills
NYC Food Handlers Certification (or ability to obtain upon hiring)
