Hello! We're seeking hardworking, friendly applicants to join the crew at Portland's original wood-fired pizza cart. SCHEDULE:
Open availability is required to start. As training progresses, new hires can expect a gradual transition to a mix of partnered and solo shifts. Once the initial 3- to 6-month training period isplete, schedules are set seasonally, and do not change from week to week.
All staff work four consecutive days per week for a total of 32 scheduled hours: two opens followed by two closes, with three consecutive days off. Opening shifts run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closing shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
COMPENSATION:
Wages start at $16.50/hour, with opportunities for regular raises uponpletion of training. Tips are pooled and distributed equally, and average just over $10/hour across the year: about $9/hour during the slowest part of winter and about $13/hour during the busy summer season. Pay periods are semi-monthly, and checks are directly deposited.
75% employer-paid medical/dental/vision is available after 60 days' employment (PacificSource Navigator Gold 3500).
Paid time off accrues at a rate of 3 weeks' FTE per year: two weeks' paid vacation, plus additional PTO to be used as sick leave or additional vacation, as needed.
Shift meals are free, and informal meal-trading with neighboring carts is encouraged.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Opening duties include:
daily dough production
mozzarella curd stretching
operation of deli slicer
general food prep
taking customer orders
managing a wood-fired oven
building, baking, and serving 10-inch pizzas
dishwashing
general cleaning
Closing duties include:
taking customer orders
building, baking, and serving 10-inch pizzas
managing a wood-fired oven
dishwashing
end-of-day cleaning duties
Additional duties include cleaning of themon dining area at Cartopia (twice daily: once per shift), splitting firewood using an electric log splitter (weekly), receiving and stacking firewood deliveries (monthly), and routine deep-cleaning tasks.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with wood-fired ovens or pizza is not required, but professional kitchen experience and/or customer service experience is strongly preferred. Highly-motivated and personable candidates without experience may be considered.
