TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY
The Hourly Rate range for the position is: Min.$17.84 - Max.$23.27. Salary placement will be at Step 1 of the Nine Mile Classified Public Employees Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Benefits: Each employee shall accumulate up to twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance. (Example: An employee working 10 months will receive 10 days of sick leave.) A maximum of three (3) Annual Leave days are provided for all employees based on the employee's scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours, or to be accumulated for the purpose of cash out.
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
Schedule: 8 hours per day on days where students eat meals. (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) pursuant to the 2025/2026 School Calendar when meals are served.
Work Location: Lakeside Middle School
Nature and Scope of Job: (1 or 2 sentence summary of position):
Responsible for forecasting/preparing food for Lakeside Middle School. Cooks and serves breakfast and lunch at Lakeside Middle School. Supervises student servers. Daily Production records.

Primary Job Functions
- Preparing approximately 215 meals/day following USDA regulations.
- Sanitation/food safety/record keeping in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Cashier during breakfast, depositing money into meal accounts, proper cash handling and daily paperwork.
- Assist in stocking and cleaning of kitchen.
- Ensure adequate food and supply inventory for daily breakfast and lunch service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, physical requirements, etc.):
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Read and write in English and calculate simple math.
- Current Washington State Food Handler Permit.
- Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to supervise student workers in a positive manner.
- Able to work as a team member.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in an institutional kitchen.
- Able to problem solve and make effective decisions using positive communication skills.
- Understanding of USDA requirements for National School Lunch and Breakfast program.
Equipment Used
Computer, Slicer, Mixer, Food Processor, Ovens, Steamer, Warmer, Dishwasher, Braising Pan, Steam Table.
Environmental Demands:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, kneeling and bending
- Climate-controlled indoor environment with or without air-conditioning
- Heat and High Humidity
- Chemicals for cleaning, hot water and steam
- May be required to sit and stand for several hours at a time
