Job Summary

As the Sous Chef at Knox College, you will support the culinary operation across a diverse, $4 million account that includes an all-you-care-to-eat cafe, a fast-casual cafe, a convenience store, a coffee cart, and internal/external catering. Youll assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and consistency, and supporting menu innovation. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate, hands-on culinary professional with a flair for leadership and creativity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Executive Chef in planning and executing menus for multiple dining outlets and catering events

  • Assist with managing food and labor costs and overall budget compliance

  • Oversee food preparation, presentation, and sanitation standards

  • Lead hourly kitchen staff and assist with training and development

  • Ensure successful execution of internal and external catering functions

  • Help implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the corporate culinary and marketing teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience

  • Progressive kitchen management experience; high-volume or institutional cooking experience a plus

  • Strong catering experience preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Internet applications

  • In-depth knowledge of food trends, production, sanitation, and cost controls

  • ServSafe certification preferred

  • Commitment to client and guest satisfaction programs
