"nonono, a Japanese yakitori hotspot located at the corner of East 30th street and Madison Avenue that you can find no where, not anywhere and now here. We are looking for an Sous Chef to support this restaurant with friendly and high-quality food and a passion for the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the kitchen leader in the Executive Chefs absence, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
- Train and mentor culinary team members by providing daily feedback, guidance, and support to promote growth and optimize performance
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and conducting performance evaluations for kitchen staff
- Support the Executive Chef in managing daily kitchen operations to maintain seamless service
- Lead and direct kitchen service flow through consistent leadership and effective task delegation, always leading by example
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef on menu execution, production planning, and station organization to ensure timely, efficient service
- Perform kitchen opening and closing procedures while maintaining cleanliness and organization
- Ensure the team consistently adheres to safety, sanitation, and organizational protocols
- Conduct visual inspections and taste to guarantee every dish meets Nononos high standards before service
- Maintain consistent quality and safety standards in all food preparation and service
- Keep the kitchen clean, well-stocked, and organized, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients
- Attend and actively contribute to all scheduled shifts, team meetings, and training sessions
About the Role
The Sous Chef plays a vital role in supporting the Executive Chef and kitchen leadership team across all aspects of kitchen operations. This includes developing both new and experienced culinary team members while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and consistency. The Sous Chef ensures a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment, providing daily coaching that balances accountability with encouragementalways focused on delivering an exceptional dining experience.
