Summary
Cafe Noir is seeking a motivated kitchen team member who thrives in a fast-paced cafe environment. You'll support food prep, execute menu items to Cafe Noirs quality standards, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly during both prep and service.
Key Responsibilities
Prep Cook Duties
Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, and cheeses for daily use
Prepare basesstocks, sauces, marinades, soupsas directed
Maintain accurate counts of ingredients, assist with receiving and restocking
Sanitize workstations, utensils, and storage containers between tasks
Line Cook Duties
Set up, stock, and manage your station (e.g., grill, fryer, saute) to prepare menu items to Cafe Noirs standards
Cook and plate dishes promptly, adhering precisely to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines
Work closely with frontofhouse and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery
Maintain cleanlinesswipe stations, empty trash, follow clean-as-you-go
Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training (vocational/associate) is a plus
1+ year of experience in a fastpaced kitchen (prep or line cook)
Strong knife skills and dexterity for quick, safe cutting
Knowledge of food safety & sanitation; ability to obtain ServSafe or equivalent
Excellent time management and organizational abilities to meet service demands
Ability to thrive in a team environment and communicate effectively
Physical stamina: standing for long periods, bending, lifting up to ~35 lbs
Preferred Traits
Previous cafe or casual-dining experience
Familiarity with signature dishes or equipment at Cafe Noir
Passion for quality, consistency, and efficient kitchen flow
Compensation
Base pay range: ~$1621/hr depending on experience; plus tip pool
Ongoing training, potential for growth into Lead or Sous roles

5 day/week schedule
Shift availability expected during cafe peak hours
