Job Description:
The Sushi Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality sushi dishes to guests in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards. This role ensures that all sushi ingredients are fresh, properly handled, and consistently prepared in a clean and safe work environment. The Sushi Cook will also engage with guests at the oyster/sushi bar, delivering excellent customer service and contributing to a memorable dining experience.
Job Requirements:
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations and tools, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory of sushi ingredients and notify management of supplies needed.
- Follow proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Assist in training new staff members.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders.
- Maintain a consistent standard of quality for all sushi dishes.
- Engage with customers at the oyster bar/sushi, providing knowledgeable answers about menu items and making recommendations.
- Present dishes in an appealing and appetizing manner.
- Handle customer inquiries and special requests professionally and courteously.
Education and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Cook or in a similar culinary role.
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and plating.
- Solid understanding of food safety standards and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires.
