TITLE: Cook II

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Personnel employed as a cook's helper.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:

Cook III and Principal.

SELECTION:

The positions is filled by the Board of

Education upon recommendation of the

Superintendent of Schools.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY:

Based upon service salary schedule, experience, and competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation; Harrison County Service Salary Schedule

TERM:

200 day employment term.

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  1. Become acquainted with the policies of the school and with the duties assigned.

  2. Be interested in the school and in the welfare of the children.

  3. As a part of the school staff, assist in establishing good public relations.

  4. Observe the working hours, operating policies and all established local, state

and federal regulations.

  1. Maintain all lunchroom and kitchen equipment in a clean, sanitary manner.

  2. Utilize all government-donated foods to the fullest extent possible, observing the

first-in, first-out policy.

  1. Consider the school lunchroom and kitchen as a "workshop" and strive to work

carefully and efficiently, observing all nutritional requirements and sanitary

standards in the preparation and services of federally approved meals.

  1. Be responsive to the suggestions of the principal and the school lunch supervisor.

  2. Attend all county school lunch workshops and training programs, as required and

strives to upgrade job performance by implementing the suggestions and lessons

given during these meetings.

  1. Be neatly dressed in a washable uniform and wear a hairnet while performing duties

in the kitchen.

  1. Follow proper procedures in the storage of food and supplies.

  2. Report any equipment needing repairs.

  3. Assist other cooks in kitchen or dining areas.

  4. Study the technical and educational materials provided by the state and county

departments of education.

  1. Be available, if possible, for kitchen related activities outside the normal working

day if requested to do so under reasonable terms by the county administration.

  1. Work to establish and maintain good rapport at all times.

  2. Perform the duties of Cook III in the absence of Cook III.

  3. Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Superintendent

or immediate supervisors may from time to time, assign.
