The Popal Group is a growing family-driven boutique hospitality group setting the standard for DC dining through ambitious restaurant concepts. We are currently seeking an experienced Line Cook to help join our kitchen team at Maison. We are a small restaurant, and aim to be the 'neighborhood' place that is sought out by locals and world travelers alike.

Position Overview
The Line Cook at Maison will oversee one of our key sections in the kitchen, working with fresh, high-quality ingredients to create exceptional modern French dishes. As part of a dynamic kitchen team, the Line Cook will contribute to the restaurants mission to offer an elevated yet approachable wine bar experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage one section of the kitchen (e.g., pastry, sauce, grill), ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Prepare dishes according to Maisons modern French recipes with careful attention to seasonal ingredients and wine pairings.
  • Supervise junior kitchen staff, ensuring consistent food quality, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Work closely with the head chef to develop and refine the menu.
  • Ensure proper inventory management and minimize food waste.
  • Assist with training and mentoring kitchen team members.
  • Uphold the cleanliness and safety standards of the kitchen.

Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Proven experience in a similar position in high-end or modern French cuisine.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a kitchen section independently.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in a high-pressure environment.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($19.00 - $23.00) plus tips
