Compensation for roles at Serenity Knolls varies based on factors such as location, role, skill set, and experience. As required by local law, we offer the following hourly pay range for this position in California:
Hourly Range: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Purpose Statement:Under general direction, the Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals, ensuring kitchen operations run smoothly, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. This role plays a key part in supporting the well-being of residents and staff in our residential treatment facility.
Key Responsibilities:Prepare and cook meals according to the approved menu and dietary guidelines
Oversee or assist with the coordination of kitchen staff during meal prep and service
Ensure the cleanliness and functionality of kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas
Maintain inventory of food supplies, kitchen equipment, and utensils
Work with Food Service leadership or the Dietitian to ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and appealing
Follow food production, inventory, and safety protocols
Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Perform additional kitchen or facility-related tasks as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Culinary training or education is a plus
2+ years of experience in food service, ideally in an institutional setting (e.g., hospital, school, or residential facility)
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
ServSafe Certification or equivalent (must be obtained upon hire, if required by state or facility)
