Position Type: School-year position (works only when preschool is in session)

Starting Wage: $14.31 per hour, based on experience

Heartland Early Education is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to support our food service program. This position plays an important role in ensuring nutritious meals are prepared, transported, and served to students while maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of food items for students and school personnel
• Transport and distribute meals and food items throughout the facility
• Maintain kitchen equipment, work areas, and facilities in a clean and sanitary condition
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, and kitchen organization
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

• Must enjoy working with children
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic and attention to cleanliness and food safety
• Ability to follow directions and maintain a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Sanitation training
• Experience in institutional food service
• Experience with school meal programs
