Cook Job Description
Position Title: Part-Time Cook
Location: Nafsi South Shore, South Shore Cultural Center, Chicago, IL
Hours: 20 hours per week
Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Job Summary:
Nafsi South Shore is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Cook to join our team. This role is essential to providing exceptional dining experiences by preparing high-quality dishes in accordance with our restaurants standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-Food Preparation:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes following established recipes and standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets quality and presentation standards.
- Assist in the creation and development of new menu items.
- Kitchen Operations:
- Maintain a clean and organized work station.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the Head Chef of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Sanitation and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure food safety.
- Regularly clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Assist with training new kitchen staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant setting is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes.
- Good time management skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attributes:
- Passion for food and cooking.
- High level of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required for chopping, mixing, and handling kitchen equipment.
