Cook (Full-Time)
We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our Food Services team at a seminary. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality meals for seminarians, staff, guests, and special events, while maintaining kitchen cleanliness, safety standards, and efficient daily kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
$22.00$24.00 per hour, DOE (Depending on Experience)
Schedule
Regular schedule: Wednesday through Sunday
Hours: 10:00 AM 6:30 PM
30-minute lunch break
Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and occasional additional hours as needed
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals, soups, salads, sandwiches, sauces, and baked goods.
Assist with food preparation for special events, retreats, and seminary functions.
Maintain clean and organized kitchen, storage, and serving areas.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
Receive, stock, and store food supplies appropriately.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Assist with inventory management and kitchen organization.
Support training of new staff and work collaboratively with team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid Food Handler Card required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a restaurant, hotel, catering, institutional, or commercial kitchen.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen equipment.
Ability to work efficiently, maintain quality standards, and follow recipes.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Bilingual English/Spanish required.
SERV Safe certification required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Frequent bending, walking, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a kitchen environment and handle cleaning products safely.
