SEASONAL FIRE CREW: It's that time of year again! Yellowstone Kellys is looking for new team members. Our Forest Service fire contact period began in June and runs until late September. We are looking for capable people to be available for that period or a portion of it. We are hiring cooks, food preparation personnel, drivers and a lot of general labor personnel. A valid drivers license is preferred for all positions.
Our kitchen may be called to wildland fire and emergency incidents throughout the Western US. Our crew sets up a temporary camp and works to feed firefighters and support personnel for the duration of the fire - sometimes a few days, sometimes a few weeks, occasionally longer.
Fire Camp employees must be prepared to work shifts of 8 to 16 hours per day, seven days per week when the kitchen is under dispatch. This includes long hours on your feet, lifting, loading and unloading supplies, ware washing, equipment cleaning, food serving, food preparation and sack lunch assembly.
Fire employees are required to have a tent, sleeping bag and sleeping pad or cot. We live in campout conditions while on fire operations. Meals are provided.
The pay depends on experience starting at $20 per hour base pay with a health and welfare benefit of $5.09 per hour added on during the first 40 hours of an assignments work week. After 40 hours have been worked during the week the overtime pay rate is 1.5 times the base.
This is a seasonal position, lasting from June until approximately October 1. Benefits include Sick leave, paid holidays vacation pay after one year of service, and a cash bonus to qualified employees who complete the season.
We also hire CDL truck drivers who can double as cooks or general laborers. (Class A or B).
