Sous Chef (Western Mediterranean Cuisine)

Medi Terra, a chef-driven Western Mediterranean restaurant in Boca Raton, is seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. We specialize in the coastal flavors of Spain, France, Portugal, and Morocco, with a focus on fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and refined presentation.

The Role:
The Sous Chef will work directly with Chef Michael Velicu, supporting day-to-day back-of-house operations. This role requires strong technical ability, a sharp eye for detail, and leadership skills to help guide line cooks and prep staff during service.

Responsibilities:
Execute and oversee daily service alongside the Executive Chef
Ensure consistent quality, flavor, and presentation across all dishes
Maintain kitchen organization, sanitation, and health code standards
Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and respect
Manage ordering, inventory, and prep lists in coordination with Chef
Step into a leadership role when Chef is off-site or unavailable

Qualifications:
3+ years of professional kitchen experience; at least 1 year in a leadership role preferred
Passion for Western Mediterranean cuisine and fine dining standards
Strong knife skills, culinary techniques, and ability to work all stations
Ability to thrive under pressure and maintain a calm, solutions-oriented demeanor
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Food Safety certification preferred (ServSafe or equivalent)
