Job Description
Epiphany is seeking a dedicated food safety and allergen-certified Cook to join our team full-time, year-round. The Cook will be responsible for managing our kitchen and preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in a joyful, child-centered environment. You will prepare daily meals for approximately 40 childrenincluding 14 specialized meals for infants who are learning to eatas well as meals for toddlers, preschoolers, and 20 staff members. Epiphany is seeking a full-time, year-round, food safety certified Cook to manage our kitchen, preparing meals for approximately 40 toddlers, preschoolers, and 20 staff members in a joyful environment. The right person for this job will love our children and also enjoy cooking healthy, nutritious food from scratch whenever possible.
As the Early Learning Center Cook, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
- Create monthly menus that are healthy and exciting.
- Purchase food and kitchen supplies, verifying delivery of ordered goods and the accuracy of invoices.
- Manage department budget and vendor relationships.
- Ensure that all the dietary needs are met, with special attention to allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Ensure that all records and supporting documents are maintained in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and policies, including production logs and meal counts.
- Ensure that the kitchen meets cleaning, sanitation, and health standards per state and local health department.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness with an organized kitchen. Routinely wash dishes, clean and maintain the cleanliness of all appliances, surfaces, and floors.
- Performs other related assignments as necessary.
- Assist in the middle school kitchen when needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in school food service, institutional, or restaurant management.
- Food Safety Manager Certification and MA Allergen Certification.
- Epiphany is willing to cover the cost of these certifications if the candidate does not already possess them.
- Knowledge of basic Word processing and spreadsheets.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience school meal planning experience is a plus.
- Knowledgeable about common food allergens and choking hazards, particularly for infants and young children
Physical Working Conditions:
Work involves moderate physical exertion, such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment and/or supplies, weighing up to 50 pounds.
Compensation and benefits:
Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits: Medical Insurance, Life, and Dental offered, all subject to premium split; may participate in retirement program.
