The Executive Chef at The Grille at Sand Hollow Resort is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring the highest level of food quality, presentation, and service for all our guests. This role involves managing a team of kitchen staff, developing innovative menus, ensuring consistency in food preparation, maintaining kitchen inventory, and adhering to health and safety regulations. The Executive Chef will collaborate with the management team to elevate the dining experience and contribute to the overall success of the golf courses hospitality services, creating a memorable culinary experience.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:
Menu Development & Planning:
- Design and update seasonal menus for the restaurant, including casual dining, formal events, and special functions
- Ensure menus align with the company brand and the preferences of members and guests
- Develop and introduce unique and creative culinary offerings for special events, tournaments, and member activities
Culinary Operations:
- Supervise all kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food following established standards
- Maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation to ensure timely and consistent delivery of high-quality food
- Oversee food production for large-scale events, including but not limited to concerts, weddings, corporate events, banquets, and tournaments
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to high culinary standards and maintain a positive work environment
- Develop and schedule staff shifts, ensuring proper coverage for all kitchen operations
- Provide ongoing training to ensure staff know techniques, safety, and guest service expectations
Inventory & Budgeting:
- Manage kitchen inventory and cost-effective ordering of supplies and ingredients
- Maintain proper stock levels and meet food safety and quality standards
- Control food and labor costs while maintaining high quality and presentation standards
- Prepare and manage kitchen budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are consistently met, in compliance with local health codes and regulations.
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness and organization to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment
- Enforce strict food handling procedures and maintain safe cooking practices
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the golf course management team, including event planners, to plan and execute events, ensuring a seamless guest experience
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure coordination and smooth service
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality ingredients and cost control
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or in a similar role, ideally in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional training in multiple cuisines, including but not limited to bakery and pastry
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and culinary trends
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills
- Solid understanding of kitchen management, budgeting, and cost control
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of food quality and cleanliness
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with different departments
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food sanitation practices
- Passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and hospitality
- Bilingual in Spanish desired
