How You’ll Make an Impact:
You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for youth, staff and guests. The Kitchen assistant handle tasks like assembling and transporting soiled dishes, operating dishwashers, and cleaning food preparation areas. Additionally, the kitchen aide performs general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, sanitizing. cleaning tables, mopping floors, and emptying trash
In this Role, you will:
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining room, stock rooms, walk-in and adjoining areas.
- Cooperate in the scheduled cleaning of specific areas and washing of dishes.
- Help stock all food orders and rotate stock weekly.
- Consistently practice key sanitation procedures and policies, especially hand washing, proper food storage and maintaining appropriate temperature of foods.
- Assist filling Program Supply Order Forms according to schedule.
- Assist in filling and delivering Internal Event Food Orders.
- Perform all assigned side work as listed in the kitchen binder, including signing off on tasks.
- Clean and sanitize utensils and food preparation areas after use according to policy.
- Assist in food preparation and serving meals, as directed by the Manager – West Loop Kitchen
- Be flexible in scheduling for the needs of the kitchen.
- Work cooperatively and professionally with all Agency staff.
- Receive deliveries and sign for them if no one else is available.
- Assist youth with daily kitchen assistant duties.
- Complete tasks assigned by the Manager- West Loop Kitchen
What we need from you:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current sanitation certification from the Chicago Department of Public Health and compliance with state, local, and regulatory agencies in relation to food service.
- Ability to maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
- Ability to safely use all food service equipment.
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Courteous, considerate and cooperative when communicating with all youth, guests and Agency staff
- Ability to work both independently and as an active team member.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management ability
- Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion in work.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, recipes, menus, warning labels, packing slips and supply orders.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds including heavy stock.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend and reach.
- Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to cover other shifts.

Basic Information / Schedule Details
Monday to Thursday: Monday-Thursday: 10:00am – 6:30pm, Friday: 10:00am – 2:30pm
Pay: $21 Hourly, 36 Hours Part-Time Benefit Eligible
