General Description
We are a quilt retreat house with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a strong commitment to hospitality. Our kitchen is a scratch kitchen, where everything is made fresh with care and attention to detailno prepackaged food. We are looking for a dependable and personable Full-Time Cook to join our team. In this role, you'll not only prepare delicious, made-from-scratch meals but also interact directly with guests as they go through the line, helping create a memorable experience and where youll have direct interaction with customers as they choose their meals.
Primary duties will include, but may not limited to, the following:
Prepare and cook meals from scratch using established recipes and high-quality ingredients
Interact with guests in the cafeteria-style line, offering friendly service and answering questions
Set up and stock kitchen stations with fresh ingredients and supplies
Ensure meals are cooked and presented in a timely and appealing manner
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and serving area
Follow food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures
Receive and properly store deliveries and ingredients
Collaborate with kitchen staff and retreat team to ensure smooth meal service
Monitor inventory and communicate any shortages or needs to management
Follow portion control guidelines and kitchen procedures
Handle multiple food orders efficiently, especially during peak meal times
Ensures adherence to food and safety regulations and standards
Performs all other duties assigned or tasked by management, including monthly birthday treats for team members, and all other meal events planned by management for team members

Educations, Experience and licensing Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
2+ years of experience in a scratch kitchen, retreat center, or similar setting (preferred) kitchen leadership experience
Strong Culinary techniques, food safety standards and inventory management practices
Current food handlers card or other certification as required by federal/state/local law
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods, lifting and carrying items up to 20 lbs. Repetitive motions bending and kneeling. Able to use all kitchen equipment. Kitchen pace is often fast, sometimes hot and requires stamina. Must be able to work long irregular hours, often 50 hours a week including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
