This is a part time to start to possible full time. Pay rate increases after 90 day probation.
Maintain a high degree of organization and cleanliness and sanitation throughout the cooking area including the reach-in and walk-in refrigerators. Follow cleaning and sanitation schedules. Clean and sanitize all tables, sinks, carts and other equipment before end of shift
Prepare food items as required for standardized recipes with accuracy, speed and the "clean as you go" philosophy
Adhere to food safety standards. Carry out proper storage procedures of raw, and completed food items following methods to prevent cross contamination and preserve quality, by covering panned and prepared item and heating and cooling food rapidly through the proper procedures. Make sure all items are dated and disposed of when out of date
Return unused food to correct storage areas. Clean and sanitize utensils and equipment used during food preparation and cooking after using fryers, ovens, mixers, etc.
Help to ensure that all food items are on hand for appropriate meal periods. Communicate appropriately when items are running low to ensure proper amount of time to replenish items
Serve meals using standards to maintain sanitation and quality
Participate in menu planning
Deliver excellent customer service to the residents and their family members
Demonstrate ability to work quickly and efficiently
Demonstrate ability to work well within a team environment
Assist with making sure the community is clean and barrier-free
Assist with activities, special events.
Attend staff meetings as scheduled
Complete trainings as required and remain current
Required Qualifications:
Must have the ability to follow written/oral instructions and follow established procedures and policies. Knowledge of weights and measures. Ability to complete basic four functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) of mathematics
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must be willing to submit to and successfully pass drug screening
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have the ability to stand for long periods of time
Must have access to reliable transportation
Must be punctual and reliable
Preferred, But Not Required:
Prior experience working with the senior population is helpful
Culinary and/or food service experience in a health care facility an asset
Familiar with clinical diets
Serve Safe Certification Preferred
Able to read and interpret common recipes

Pay: From $15.25 per hour
