Oakwood Public Market is a new gathering place in the heart of Dripping Springs - a vibrant, multi-concept destination that includes a craft coffee shop, pizzeria, retro soda fountain and ice cream counter, full bar, bakery, and specialty grocery. The Role
As a Pastry Cook at Oakwood Public Market, you'll lead daily production of our baked goods with consistency, discipline, and care. This role requires technical skill, creativity, and a deep respect for process - someone who sees pastry not only as product, but as contribution. You'll help set the pace and standard of our program, guiding others through example and shaping the rhythm of the kitchen each day.
What You'll Do
Prepare and execute a wide range of baked goods including cookies, tarts, cakes, laminated pastries, and seasonal specials to Oakwood s standards
Own the mise en place of the pastry station: clean, labeled, efficient, and ready for service or production
Operate mixers, ovens, sheeters, and pastry tools with precision and care
Support recipe refinement, scaling, and seasonal menu development in collaboration with leadership
Communicate clearly with the savory and service teams to ensure cohesion across offerings and service windows
Uphold and model kitchen systems for sanitation, labeling, storage, and inventory
Lead with pride, consistency, and an eye for detail from the crumb of a tart shell to the wrap on a take-home loaf
Tools of the Trade
Strong foundation in baking and pastry techniques formal training preferred but not required
Familiarity with daily production sheets, scaling, andmercial equipment
Comfortable with cross-functional collaboration in a multi-concept space
Experience with Toast POS is a plus, especially for special orders and inventory
