Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate cook to join our team at Sawtooth Elementary School. This part-time position is 5.5 hours of work per day, focusing on preparing nutritious and delicious meals for our students. The ideal candidate will have a love for cooking, an understanding of food safety practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals and snacks in accordance with established recipes and nutritional guidelines.
- Ensure that all food is prepared and served in a safe and sanitary manner, following health and safety regulations.
- Assist in menu planning and food inventory management, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and available.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas, including proper storage of food items.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during meal service times.
- Monitor and maintain food quality and presentation standards.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Adhere to all dietary restrictions and special requests from students and staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a cooking or food service role is a plus.
- Food safety and sanitation certification preferred, able to obtain on the job.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy items as needed.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and dietary needs.
This is an at will position that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment at will policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
