Pastry Chef Havens Harborside Fish & Chop House
Location: Maalaea Harbor, Maui, HI
Reports to: Executive Chef / Chef Zach Sato
Position Summary:
Havens Harborside Fish & Chop House is seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to lead our in-house pastry program. This position is perfect for a passionate, hands-on professional who thrives in a collaborative, aloha-centered kitchen and wants to be part of one of Mauis most celebrated culinary destinations. You will be responsible for crafting elegant desserts, seasonal pastries, and house-baked breads that reflect our signature island-inspired cuisine and refined comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and prepare a variety of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and specialty baked items for daily service and special events.
Collaborate with Chef Zach Sato and the culinary team to create seasonal and rotating dessert menus that complement our fish & chop house offerings.
Ensure consistency, taste, and presentation meet the high standards of Havens Harborside.
Lead the pastry prep schedule to ensure timely production and service flow.
Oversee ingredient inventory and maintain cost control through thoughtful planning and minimal waste.
Train and guide pastry assistants and back-of-house team members when needed.
Uphold all Department of Health and internal food safety and sanitation standards.
Contribute ideas for catering, private events, and offsite desserts that showcase the Havens brand.
Maintain a clean, organized, and inspiring pastry kitchen.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of professional pastry chef experience; fine dining or upscale casual preferred.
Formal culinary or baking/pastry education is a plus.
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry presentation, and plated dessert design.
High attention to detail with a flair for creativity and island flavor fusion.
Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen.
Leadership skills and a team-oriented spirit aligned with our culture of hospitality and aloha.
Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
