Established in July 2023, Vitsky Bakery is a small but mighty micro-bakery located in a converted dairy barn in Wassaic, NY. We work with regionally grown and milled grains, along with other local ingredients whenever possible, to create breakfast pastries and sourdough breads. Our frequently changing menu is guided by seasonal availability and what's growing around us. We celebrate our region's bounty and take joy in crafting fun, inspired baked goods for our community.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Seeking an experienced baker to assist the owner with all day to day operations and production. Baker responsibilities include: preparing and baking a variety of breads and pastries (including sourdough breads, laminated pastries as well as cookies, scones and other breakfast pastry items), ensuring quality and consistency in all baked goods, as well as ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
Experience in the production and baking of artisanal sourdough bread and pastry
Knowledge of basic baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
Experience using a scale and working in grams
Ability to work in a fast-paced professional kitchen and collaborate with team members
Ability to work clean and maintain clean stations between projects
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Has a passion for food and having fun making it!
Physical requirements may include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and following safety and sanitation guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year experience working in a professional bakery or culinary degree
Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
COMPENSATION
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
