Baltimore Country Club was founded in 1898 and it was a success from the start, with 600 members enjoying its 150-acre facility less than five miles from downtown Baltimore. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A LEAD PASTRY COOK

As the Lead Pastry Cook in the culinary department of the Baltimore Country Club, you are part of a pastry team with exceptional standards. You are passionate about good food and exceeding our members' expectations. Each shift, you follow standardized established recipes and procedures to make in-house scratch baking and pastry items; help produce ice cream, cookies, brownies, plated desserts; and work closely with the Executive Pastry Chef and team in assisting with daily production requirements. You will help with monitoring and recording inventory, ordering, and waste. Every week you will partake in plated dessert specials for A la Carte, and occasionally will work action stations for events held at the Club. Having a working knowledge of cake decorating will also be beneficial in this role.

In addition to the proper preparation of food, you ensure its properly stored and handled. You inspect food prep and serving areas regularly to ensure safe, sanitary food-handling practices. You love the camaraderie that comes with working as part of a cohesive culinary team in a tightly-run kitchen. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where you are never bored and time goes by quickly.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous Baking and Pastry experience or degree in Baking and Pastry is preferred; familiarity and understanding of baking and pastry - making cookie doughs, fresh bread, cake decorating, plating desserts, and mini desserts; Precision and attention to detail are qualities this role requires. Experience working in a Country Club or fine dining experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
