POSITION SUMMARY:

The Caterer provides various support services while assigned to the Catering Department at the St. Clair County RESA. We're seeking a skilled and creative baker to prepare various baked goods for our customers. You'll be responsible for preparing and following recipes, baking, decorating, delivering food, and working with students, while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Baking, culinary training, or education is preferred.

Successful food preparation, baking, and cooking experience in restaurants, hospitals, schools, or catering events.

Proven experience as a baker or pastry chef

Strong attention to detail and time management

Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students and staff in a customer setting.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to work long hours while standing.

Ability to work as a team member.

Knowledge and/or certification in ServSafe Sanitation.

Valid Michigan driver's license.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work cooperatively with instructional staff, the food service department, and administration.

As needed, prepare breads, pastries, cookies, cakes and other baked goods, and catered events.

Communicate effectively with students, instructional staff, catering staff, and administration.

Ability to handle currency and run a cash register.

Help to provide support with catering needs.

Work a flexible schedule throughout the year, including possible nights, weekends and summer.

Detection of burning, spoilage, and freshness of food products.

Prepare daily food requirements.

Read and follow recipes.

Deliver a high level of customer service at all times.

Able to work with students.

Work in a fast, steady-paced environment.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment Date: Pending School Board approval and completion of pre-employment, drug screen, and background check.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 2:30 pm, not to exceed 35 hours/week

Year-round School Position, including summer hours (not to exceed 261 days per year)

Wage: $15.00-$18.00 per hour based on demonstrated skill and ability

Fringes: Single subscriber health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, retirement
