Are you a culinary professional passionate about nourishing students and leading high-volume food operations? Join our Nutrition Services team and play a critical role in the oversight, production, and pack-out of food products from our Central Production Kitchen to school sites across the district.
We are looking for a food service worker who brings strong organizational skills, culinary expertise, and a commitment to excellence and equity in school nutrition.
What You'll Do:
As a Food Service Worker in the Central Production Kitchen, you will play a vital role in ensuring that nutritious, high-quality food is prepared and delivered efficiently to school sites across the district. Under the direction of the Production Kitchen Manager, you will:
Help facilitate daily operations in areas such as bakery, produce, and cook/chill processing.
Follow production schedules, menu distribution plans, and operational tasks.
Complete daily task lists and identify opportunities for workflow efficiency.
Assist in testing recipes for both central and school kitchen use.
Comply with all food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP, Serve Safe).
Support ordering, receiving, and inventory processes to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
Evaluate produce quality and ensure accurate distribution of produce to schools .
Maintain accurate temperature logs and utilize electronic monitoring systems as needed.
Serve as support to the kitchen manager/chef in relation to orders, inventory, recipes, and production records.
Support compliance with the National School Lunch Program's accountability requirements.
Maintain strong, respectful communication with students, staff, and the community.
Ensure food production duties are completed accurately and on time.
Maintain an organized and clean workspace.
What We're Looking For:
Education & Certification:
High School Diploma
Serve Safe Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
First Aid/CPR Certification preferred
Experience:
Preferred: Experience in large-scale food service production, including:
Cook/chill operations and commercial kettles
Grinders, graters, choppers, vacuum sealers
Large-scale baking
Institutional food service or catering experience preferred. Two years of relevant experience is ideal
Skills & Abilities:
Strong culinary skills and knowledge of large-scale preparation techniques
Understanding of nutrition principles and child nutrition regulations
Interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to manage stress and shifting priorities
Proficient in tracking and organizing inventory to maintain stock level
Ability to follow instructions effectively and receptive to feedback and guidance
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
