SALARY: State and Local salary based on experience. Click here for salary scale:

Benefits: Employees working at least 18.75+ hours per week are eligible for a school district contribution of up to $180/month towards the cost of approved state medical/health, dental and/or vision plan coverage.

District Paid Life Insurance: Employees working 20+ hours (support staff) are eligible. A $25,000 policy is carried on each employee at no cost.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of four unit classes and ServSafe are a requirement for this position.

MUST follow Standardized Recipes and be familiar with nutrient analysis software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass the Serve Safe Exam within 6 months of hire or already have passed and is current.
  • Knowledge of or experience with use of major equipment in food preparation.
  • Computer literacy
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Experience with cash register preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand on feet for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to take Unit Classes and Cooks Classes if not already completed within the first year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time every workday.

  • Perform all duties as assigned during scheduled workdays.

  • Be free from the use of drugs and alcohol.

  • Work in the area assigned by Child Nutrition Manager.

  • Be responsible for proper use operation and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, heating and cooling units, cash register, and other equipment as required.

  • Accept alternating assignments on the serving line, in the dish room, kitchen prep, and cash register as directed by the Child Nutrition Manager.

  • Keep work, service areas, and equipment clean and sanitary and avoid a backlog of unwashed areas, equipment, and utensils according to the district HACCP Plan.

  • Clear and clean dining area tables and chairs during and after meal service and sweep the floor in the kitchen preparation area.

  • Move and store Child Nutrition food and supplies.

  • Observe areas where help is needed and assist where needed to expedite the work.

  • Cooperate willingly and follow instructions.

  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Work independently and exercise initiative.

  • Willingness to continue professional growth and development.

  • Display an attitude of cooperation and accommodation to all co-workers, students, faculty, Management, and administration. perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Specialist, or Supervisor.

  • Adheres to approved standards of personal hygiene and grooming, including appearance, cleanliness, and appropriate dress code.

  • MUST follow Standardized Recipes and be familiar with nutrient analysis software.

  • Determine time and sequence of cooking operations to meet meal serving deadlines (e.g., breakfast, lunch, satellite)

  • Perform temperature checks and be familiar with safe temperature zones according to district HACCP Plan.

  • Batch cooking is required.
