Cafe Stella, a beloved French bistro in the vibrant Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean workspace, and assisting the culinary team with various tasks. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a fast-paced, high-end restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience working in French restaurants or with French cuisine is highly preferred and will be considered a strong asset.
- Prepare and portion ingredients according to the restaurants recipes and specifications.
- Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as needed.
- Measure and mix ingredients for recipes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies for the kitchen line.
- Assist in preparing sauces, stocks, and other basic kitchen preparations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring all ingredients are stored properly.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy.
- Support line cooks and chefs during service by preparing and supplying ingredients in a timely manner.
- Participate in daily prep lists and tasks as assigned by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role in a restaurant kitchen.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from the culinary team.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well with others.
- Culinary school education is a plus, but not required.
