Prep Cook

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The Prep Cook will support the daily operations of our kitchen by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting in meal preparation for our community programs, including senior services, early childhood education, and community events.

Key Responsibilities

Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards.

Measure and prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning and labeling.

Assist in assembling meals and plating dishes for service.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils.

Follow all food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations.

Receive and store food supplies and ingredients properly.

Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.

Support special events and community programs as needed.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM 3:00 PM

Flexible start and end times available:

Start as late as 8:00 AM

End as early as 1:00 PM, depending on individual needs (e.g., second job)

Reason for Opening: To provide temporary assistance as one of the employees is out on a 2 week leave

Skills and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Prior experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment is a plus.

Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
