Job Title: Cook III
Location: Taylor County Middle School
To Whom Responsible: Building Administrator/Director of Child Nutrition
Selection: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.
Employment Term: 200 day employment, 6:00am to 2:00pm
Effective Date: Upon Board Approval
JOB GOAL: To provide assistance to the Cafeteria Manager in the preparation, service and clean-up required with the Child Nutrition Services Program

JOB DESCRIPTION
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Food Handler's Card and meet all local and state health requirements
- Have the ability to communicate, read, write, make basic calculations and follow written and oral instructions
- Have basic computer skills to perform tasks needed for communication (email) and reports (Word & Excel)
- Have the ability to manage time
- Have a thorough knowledge of the proper use and care of equipment used in a school kitchen
- Be in good health, average physical strength with the capability to lift large containers of food and supplies (50 pounds maximum)
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/INDICATORS
- Become acquainted with county and school policies and with the assigned duties.
- Be interested in the school and in the welfare of the children.
- Observe the working hours, operating policies and all established local, state and federal regulations.
- Maintain all lunchroom and kitchen equipment in a clean, sanitary manner.
- Utilize all government-distributed foods to the fullest extent possible, observing the first-in, first-out policy.
- Requisition the necessary food and supplies to prepare and serve the county planned menu.
- Supervise the serving of required portions and meal components for a reimbursable breakfast, lunch, and/or snack school meal.
- Maintain a perpetual inventory of all food, supplies, and equipment.
- Consider the school lunchroom and kitchen as a "workshop" and strive to work carefully and efficiently, observing all nutritional requirements and sanitary standards in the preparation and service of school meals.
- Be responsive to the suggestions of the Child Nutrition Director, principal and cafeteria manager and accept the responsibilities delegated by them.
- Attend all county Child Nutrition workshops and training programs.
- Be neatly dressed in clean washable clothing and wear a hairnet while performing duties in the kitchen.
- Follow proper procedures in the storage of food and supplies.
- Report any equipment needing repairs to the Cafeteria Manager or Child Nutrition Director.
- Assist the Cafeteria Manager in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Assist in the service of school meals.
- Assist in the clean-up of kitchen and dining area.
- Complete accurate daily production records.
- Become familiar with and perform " line point of service" tasks on the Primero Edge computer program.
- Perform basic computer tasks, such as email, reports submitted in Word, and Market Orders submitted in Excel.
- Work to establish and maintain a good rapport at all times with staff.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as supervisors may assign.
