Guardian has an opportunity for a Part-Time Activities Coordinator and Cook to join our team at Suncrest Village!

Suncrest Village is an affordable (LIHTC/RD) senior living community in Sequim, WA with 37 units.

This position plans, implements, and promotes activities to enhance the quality of life for all residents. This includes assisting the Executive Director's efforts to present a caring and professional rapport with residents, as well as to work in compliance with applicable government programs for the property, enforcing property and Guardian policies and procedures, and adhering to Fair Housing at all times. Additionally, as a Cook this position prepares quality food for the residents in accordance with safety and health guidelines at all times. Cooks prepare appetizing, attractive, nutritious meals to residents in timely and consistent manner. All food will be prepared according to the highest food sanitation standards.

Schedule: 24-29 hours / week; days and hours are flexible

Compensation: $20 - $21 /hr + benefits!

Qualification Requirements:

The requirements listed below are representative, but not exclusive of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

High school diploma or GED.

Must have and maintain a valid food handler's card.

At least one year of experience in food services related industry.

At least one year of experience in coordinating activities in a related field.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to speak, read and write in English.

Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner; both verbally and in writing.

Able to complete company training requirements for this position within pre-determined deadlines and attend other training sessions as required.

Possess the knowledge of kitchen/dining room appliances and tools.

Own or have access to a reliable and properly insured vehicle for use in business transportation needs and possess/maintain a valid driver's license.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

Represent Guardian in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Managing all aspects of the kitchen in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws for food handling, preparation, storage and disposal.

Prepare meals and snacks according to menus and recipes, so that they are consistently appetizing, presented well, are available at appropriate times or served on time according to dining schedule.

Make sure that all meals are prepared in accordance with company and sanitation standards.

Assure food is correctly stored, adhering to all related policies and procedures (e.g., labels, dates, and specific reuse for leftovers).

Assure kitchen is cleaned after each meal, including but not limited to pots and pans, all work surfaces, and floors.

Perform special kitchen cleaning tasks.

Resolve resident complaints regarding food and/or food services graciously and promptly and communicate complaints and resolution to Community Manager.

Complete outside education and training classes necessary to fulfill state or provincial regulations.

Work in accordance with all safety policies and procedures to protect food services employees and adheres to all other food services policies and procedures (i.e. kitchen cleanliness and organization).

Manage the food services component of all banquets and special events.

Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships between departments and with coworkers.

Follow confidentiality guidelines for all resident, property, owner, and Guardian information at all times.

Constantly strive for improvements in work process and results to better meet resident needs, ownership goals and objectives, and company standards and expectations.

Support Community Manager's efforts to assure that the company's efforts fully meet and exceed property management obligations.

Work in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws (Fair Housing, OSHA, etc).

Completes activities-related evaluations on new residents including Activities Evaluation and Social/Spiritual Data.

Coordinates welcome efforts and takes minutes of Town Hall Resident Council meetings and Food Council meetings.

Consults residents on a regular basis, both individually and in resident group meetings to ascertain activity preferences.

Plans and implements activities of sufficient variety and at sufficient frequency.

Prepares and distributes monthly activities calendar.

Assures that activities are offered as scheduled or, if cancelled, that appropriate alternatives are offered.

Plans, coordinates, and assists with decoration of facility routinely as well as for special events, holidays, and seasons, including all bulletin boards.

Assures Activity Room and any activity supply storage areas are clean and organized, including assuring that any food stored in Activity Room kitchen is stored in safe, sanitary manner.

Plans and implements community bus or other vehicles schedule in conjunction with other staff.

If applicable, drives community bus or other vehicles to and from required destinations safely and according to schedule and assures interior of bus or other vehicles neat.

Orders activities supplies and arranges activities services, adhering to activities department budget.

Manage resident relations, present information, respond to questions and concerns and communicate effectively especially in emergency and inflammatory situations. Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.

Accurately record time worked and ensure that site staff adhere to time keeping guidelines.

Performs other duties as directed by Community Manager or Portfolio Manager.
