Professional Sous Chef to join high-volume, well-established Italian restaurant in Mahwah.
Position: Sous Chef
Salary: $900 $1,250 per week (based on experience and performance)
Type: Full-Time, Must Be Available Weekends & Evenings
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of culinary experience, including at least 2 years as a Sous Chef or similar leadership role
Strong line cooking and prep skills with attention to detail and consistency
Proven ability to lead and support a team during service
Fluent in English with excellent communication skills
Strong organization, cleanliness, and time management
Must be punctual, reliable, and able to work under pressure
Knowledge of Italian cuisine is highly preferred
Must have or be willing to obtain Food Safety Certification
Responsibilities Include:
Supporting the Executive Chef in daily operations
Training and supervising kitchen staff
Managing prep and service standards
Ensuring food quality, portioning, and presentation
Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen
