Required Qualifications: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Food Handler card Ability to work individually and in a team Self-directed Ability to prioritize Ability to read and follow recipes Excellent customer service skills Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years cooking or two (2) years baking experience Duties and Responsibilities: Personal Hygiene: Demonstrates proper hand hygiene Changes gloves as appropriate and between tasks as appropriate Hairnet or cap always worn Sanitation: Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment throughout shift Sets up and maintains green (soap) and red (sanitizer) buckets throughout shift Spills wiped up immediately. Food and objects on floor picked up immediately Cleans and sanitizes equipment each shift as indicated by cleaning logs Log documentation reflects equipment condition Food Safety: Follows safe food handling guidelines Applies ServSafe training to task completion throughout shift Thaws food per safe food handling guidelines Coordinates use of leftovers with supervisor Tightly covers, labels, dates, and uses leftovers in a timely manner Discards outdated food, records on Nonconforming Product Log, and informs supervisor Food for Cafe, Patients and Catering: Prepares food according to recipes to meet standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance Assists with preparation of cafe meal items as needed Bakes a variety of scratch breads, pastries and desserts for the cafe Items are wrapped and dated according to use Prep work is complete and timely Schedules cooking to meet timeframes Serves food using appropriate portion control utensils All items are portioned to standard, wrapped appropriately, dated and rotated Consults with supervisor concerning new recipes or special items Makes suggestions for menu items Use of Equipment: Uses equipment properly and safely Reports any equipment issues to supervisor Teamwork: Demonstrates cooperation and willingness to always help coworkers Department Education: Attends department in-services and meetings Participates in QA/PI programs when assigned Other Duties as Assigned: Demonstrates willingness and follows through with other duties assigned All assigned HealthStream modules successfully completed on time Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions: Moderate physical efforts Lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds Frequent prolonged standing and walking Repetitive motions Reaching above head Exposed to varying degrees of kitchen elements including steam, heat, odors, and sharp objects As you go about fulfilling this mission, your work habits and work relationships should embody SJRMC's values.
