Moravian Manor Communities is a premier not-for-profit senior living center that has been serving older adults for 50 years. We are currently seeking an experienced Cook who is looking for a rewarding career to join our Culinary Services team! This full-time position offers competitive pay, excellent benefits, and a flexible schedulewith no late nights. The Cook will provide support for the Residential Living Dining Room from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM during the week and will work every other weekend in the Cafe Grill from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The schedule includes every other holiday, covering the Residential Living Dining Room, and offers consistent time off every Tuesday, every other weekend, and every other holiday. Responsibilities of a Cook:
- Prepare and serve meals for residents and guests.
- Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and / or as specified on resident check to ensure consistency of product to the residents.
- Follow recipes, menu notes and production sheets accurately
- Prepare food in proper amount based on number of servings to be served
- Assist other cooks with prep and special functions
- Document finished cooking temperatures and temperatures of foods before leaving the kitchen
- Properly clean and sanitize work stations and tables.
Qualifications of a Cook
- 1-3 years of culinary experience preferably in long-term care
- Ability to work every OTHER weekend and holiday rotations
- Knowledge of all areas of production including soups, sauces, entrees, sides, and ability to produce some desserts.
- Ability to follow recipes and production guidelines
- Knowledge of all cooking equipment including proper use and care/cleaning/sanitizing of equipment and production areas
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Knowledge of producing food items for specialized diets a plus.
- ServSafe certification preferred
