What You'll Be Doing

  • Willingness to replenish professional knowledge.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment.
  • Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes.
  • Creating new and exciting desserts and seasonal items to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers.
  • Creative ability with artistic skill in decorating cakes, pastries and other desserts using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
  • Great attention to detail and creativity.
  • In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition.
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, vegan, sugarless etc.)
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.
  • Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Ensuring their section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations.
  • Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station.
  • Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the Executive and Sous Chefs to ensure a successful working environment.
  • Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry section, when needed, and within budget.
  • Organizing and leadership skills.
  • Supervising, motivate and train staff members, when needed to work more efficiently.
  • Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel.
  • Meeting with customers to discuss details and planning of custom-made desserts and pastries for special occasions, such as weddings.

This position starts as a 90-day seasonal-to-hire role. After the 90-day period, there is the potential to be offered a regular full-time position , which includes access to our comprehensive benefits package.

Compensation

$22.00 – $22.00/hour

Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Culinary Arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field (Preferred)
  • Washington state food handlers’ card
  • Servsafe Manager Card (Optional)
